Bettye Page Pin Up Portrait
This is a piece I created for a Show in Nashville that featured the notorious Bettye Page. Bettye Page is pictued here as part woman and part jungle cat. There are other Bettye Page Pictures surrounding the center focal point that incorporate many other aspects of her life. Bettye Page, the pin up girl, is still very popular in this age and there are many pieces of memorabelia feturing betty page such as a jungle cat figurine. This portrait measures 36" h x 26" w , and is painted with acrylic house paint on canvas. It is framed in a sleek black metal frame with a depth of 1 1/2" A native of Nashville, TN, Bettye Page was a pin-up girl in the late 50's and early 60's and was known for her leopard skin bathing suit. Bettye still has quite a following and the release of this painting will stir up a whirlwind of commotion. Denny Martindale is an extremely talented artist who has a beautiful eye for detail. Her portraits look like photographs instead of paintings. I literally had to ask her if what I was looking at was a photograph of a pet or an actual painting of the pet. As it turned out, it was one of her custom pet portraits that she had created for a mutual friend of ours. I knew the dogs in the portrait, and the techniques that Denny used in creating this portrait were just amazing to me; the dogs' coats looked shiny in the portrait, just like they do in real life, I just couldn't get over the talent that Denny posses that allows her to create the detail that just reached out and grabbed me while I gazed at the portrait. |
