This is an original Pastel Portrait that depicts a cowboy on a cattle drive at sunset bringing a stray calf back to the herd.
The blue sky fades into a golden expanse of setting sun and reflects the golden tones in the few clouds hanging in the air. Sillouetted against the beautiful sky is the cowboy atop his trusty horse who has helped him round up this uncooperative stray. The cowboy and the horse show signs of a long hard day and maybe thoughts of a good meal and a restful night's sleep that lay shortly ahead.

The portrait measures a glorious 24" x 18" and looks fabulous hanging in a room with a tall ceiling.

Denny Martindale is an extremely talented artist who has a beautiful eye for detail.  Her portraits look like photographs instead of paintings.  I literally had to ask her if what I was looking at was a photograph of a pet or an actual painting of the pet.  As it turned out, it was one of her custom pet portraits that she had created for a mutual friend of ours.  I knew the dogs in the portrait, and the techniques that Denny used in creating this portrait were just amazing to me;  the dogs' coats looked shiny in the portrait, just like they do in real life, I just couldn't get over the talent that Denny posses that allows her  to create the detail that just reached out and grabbed me while I gazed at the portrait.
